Rain Tomorrow, Dry and Chilly Mid-Week

We enjoyed a slight warm up this weekend with temperatures topping out it the mid 40s today.  However, the chillier weather is returning.  A cold front will move through the area during the day tomorrow, and bring with it a chance of rain showers followed by some chilly temperatures.

Rain showers will move in tonight ahead of the front.  As shown in the graphic above, scattered showers will then remain in our area throughout the day tomorrow.  There is a very slight chance that any isolated showers that are still lingering tomorrow night could change over to a freezing drizzle or light rain/snow mix.  However, our area should dry out fairly early in the evening, so that should not be much of a concern.

Although snow will not be an issue tomorrow, the rain will be rather persistent.  As shown in the graphic below, parts of our area could pick up close to an inch of rain during the next 24 hours.  So, make sure you have your umbrella handy tomorrow!

Forecasted precipitation totals from 6:00 PM CST on Sunday, January 11th until 6:00 PM CST on Monday, January 12th courtesy of the Weather Prediction Center.
Looking ahead, the high pressure system located to our northwest will gradually make its way closer to our region and bring us drier conditions for the rest of the week.  However, the air mass behind this cold front will keep our area pretty chilly for the work week.  Temperatures will struggle to make it to 40° tomorrow, and we do not expect it make it into the 40s again until at least Friday.  We do, however, expect to make it above freezing every day this week.  So, that will be a nice change from last week.
