Cooler and Drier Christmas, Rain Returns This Weekend

Our weather has been fairly warm and wet over the last couple of days, but that is coming to an end this evening.  Today was the third day in a row that Bowling Green received measurable rainfall.  We have picked up 0.23” just since midnight last night.  Most of the rain is now to our north and east.  However, there is still a chance that we could see some light scattered rain showers come through this evening.  The last of the rain is expected to be out of our area before midnight tonight.  So, no rainfall expected for Christmas Day.  We will even see a little sunshine as high pressure begins to work its way up from the south.

While the rain was coming to an end today, so were the unseasonably warm temperatures.  Although we started in the mid-50s, we cooled off into the mid-40s by the afternoon.  Tonight, temperatures will continue to drop into the mid-30s.  As shown in the graphic below, tomorrow high temperatures will be in the mid-40s, which is closer to what would be considered average for this time of year.  However, temperatures will be back into the 50s on Friday.

Looking ahead, another system is going to move through and bring us rain once again this weekend.  At this time, the greatest chance for rain looks to be Saturday night into Sunday.  Temperatures will then drop back down into the 40s for the start of next week.
