Stormy Wednesday and a Cooler Weekend

Current Conditions:  A Tornado Watch is in effect until 7:00pm CDT.  The main threats for our area this afternoon will be hail and high winds.  We cannot rule out a chance for a tornado, however the chance is slim.  A surface low is located over western Tennessee and due to the counter clockwise rotation around the low, winds are out of the south.  A stationary front is currently located over our area and we are experiencing cooler temperatures compared to what we have seen the past couple of days.  Across eastern Kentucky, temperatures are in the lower 80s which will aid in storm development.  Due to the position of the stationary front, severe weather chances are slim.  However, if the stationary front happens to drift west, severe weather chances will increase.

Forecast Discussion: Current models indicate a line of storms moving through around 7:00pm tonight.  The rain will be out of our area by midnight tonight.  Colder temperatures will continue to settle in behind the front.  The surface low located over western Tennessee will continue to push off to the northeast.  Winds will be out of the northwest tomorrow becoming gusty at times.  A slight rain chance exits for Friday morning as an upper level system moves off to the northeast.  Once this system moves out Friday, high pressure will begin to settle back in over our area and temperatures will be back in the 70s on Sunday.

Tonight:  Expect a low of 52 before midnight with winds out of the south at 5 mph becoming north at 5 mph.  Storms are possible in the early evening.  Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Saturday:  Low of 45 and a high of 69 under partly cloudy skies.  Winds will be out of the south at 5 mph.  No precipitation is expected.
