Discussion:
Today has been a rather
seasonable April day, especially compared to yesterday. Our high temperature in Bowling Green today
was 74°. Normally, our high this time of
year is about 71°, so we were just slightly above average. Yesterday, however, our high was a warm
81°!
We also had plenty of
April showers today. According to the
Kentucky Mesonet, Bowling Green has received over an inch of rain since
midnight last night. This is now been
one of the top ten wettest Aprils in Bowling Green history. With more rain on the way, it will be
interesting to see where this April ranks by the time the month is over.
On the topic of more
rain, we may pick up a little more before today is over. There is a continued chance of scattered
showers and thunderstorms tonight and into tomorrow. As shown in the graphic below, this rain is
all associated with a cold front coming in from the west that will pass through
our area early in the day tomorrow.

After the heavy rain we
saw at times today, some areas are already dealing with flooding issues. As these periods of rain continue through
tomorrow, please travel cautiously and never try to cross floodwaters. We will get a break from the rain on Tuesday,
but rain chances return midweek as another cold front works its way toward our
area.
Due to these cold fronts,
temperatures the rest of this week will be running just slightly below normal. Highs are expected to be in the mid to upper
60s with lows in the mid to upper 40s most of this week. Right now, the second half of the week looks
rather similar to the pattern we will see over the next couple of days. Mostly cloudy skies,
temperatures in the 60s, and spotty showers just seems to be the trend for this
week.
Forecast:
Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies, a 40% chance of
scattered showers and thunderstorms, lows near 59°, and winds out of the SSW at
around 8-12 mph.
Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy skies, a 40% chance of isolated
showers and thunderstorms, highs near 66°, overnight lows near 45°, and winds
out of the west at around 10-15 mph during the day becoming more calm a night.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny skies, a 20% chance of PM
showers, highs near 68°, overnight lows near 48°, and winds out of the west at
around 6-12 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy skies, a 30% chance of showers,
highs near 68°, overnight lows near 45°, and winds out of the west at around
6-12 mph.
